Having lived in their home for nearly a year, this family needed a clear vision for their renovation. Their desire was simple: to transform their space from "like a cave" into "a breath of fresh air." Working alongside our team, we quickly turned that dream into reality.

The home initially felt gloomy and closed off upon entry, largely due to the existing brick floors and the built-in shelving that separated the spaces. We transformed the space with an open-concept entry area, new flooring, and fresh paint for a significantly brighter welcome. The finishing touch, in true IBB fashion, was the gold jewelry hanging from the ceiling, which truly "let there be light."
The living room is the heart of their home, where this family spends the majority of their time together. Our objective was to craft a comfortable, curated space that felt both classy and inviting—a welcoming retreat for family and guests alike. Despite the massive windows offering a beautifully framed city view, the room initially lacked brightness. We successfully achieved our goal by implementing several key updates: refinishing the existing hardwood flooring, refacing and revising the fireplace area, brightening the walls, and removing the beams that made the ceiling feel lower than it was. Alongside their belongings to add warmth and familiarity, we added some showstopper accessories and furnishings to say welcome home to this family.
This was perhaps initially the darkest space, largely due to the overpowering built-in shelving, which was later removed. By significantly brightening the area and incorporating a pop of color and a new light fixture, the room was completely revitalized.
Fortunately, the existing kitchen was beautifully designed, so we didn't need to make any changes. However, their breakfast area—and indeed the rest of the home—suffered from being too dark. With a fresh coat of paint and this stunning new light fixture, we are saying good riddance to the gloom and good morning to a bright, cheerful space!
We completely reimagined the former back mudroom and laundry area. By relocating the laundry facilities downstairs, we successfully created two distinct and functional spaces from the original single room. The client needed a dedicated study and a comfortable "Drop Zone" to manage the busy comings and goings of their daily life.
Transformed from shabby to absolutely stunning, this powder room is a space you'll want to linger in, thanks to its unique tile pattern and inviting warm gold finishes.
