Tucked away on five acres just behind Helen Hunt Falls, these two historic log cabins had a story to tell—but they were in serious need of care. Built in 1910, both cabins were in extremely poor condition and required one of the most challenging renovations we’ve ever taken on.

Our clients’ vision was clear: bring these cabins back to life while preserving the soul and authenticity that made them special in the first place all while giving the a cozy modern feel.

Every design decision was made with intention. We leaned into the original character of the log construction while layering in modern comforts and thoughtful updates. The result is a cozy modern. aesthetic that feels fresh and livable, yet still deeply connected to the rugged beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Today, these cabins feel warm, welcoming, and quietly luxurious—spaces that honor their history while offering all the comforts of modern living. A true blend of old and new, set in one of Colorado’s most breathtaking locations.

This cabin's kitchen had been previously updated, so we focused on a much-needed refresh for the rest of the space. This involved replacing flooring throughout, installing new windows in the vaulted area & adding shiplap in a fresh color to the ceilings to significantly increase natural light, and updating all doors and trim.

The bathroom/laundry area underwent a complete transformation, going from dingy and dated to a fresh, modern space. This overhaul complemented the refresh of the main living area, featuring new tile, a custom vanity, and a large walk-in shower.

The second cabin is where we spent most of our elbow grease. The transformation included work to the trusses and subfloor, completely changing the layout and adding a whole new second bathroom.

In addition to new flooring throughout the cabin, we installed beautiful custom cabinetry. The most striking element is the chic, statement-making green basketweave tile backsplash. The addition of a warm gold chandelier completed this kitchen, transforming it into the most inviting space of the entire project.

We transformed this living and dining area by removing a non-original dividing wall. Now, our clients have a beautifully designed, open, and spacious area perfect for both comfortable everyday living and entertaining friends and family.

This new three-quarter bathroom incorporates a custom vanity and a walk-in shower. A distinctive light fixture was installed to enhance the smaller space.

The second of the two new bathrooms included laundry as well. The green theme continued with this custom corner vanity and eye-catching patterned hexagon tile, which truly makes a statement in the space.
